I'm mad. I'm mad for many reasons but mainly because book was sloppy and a let down. After reading the entire trilogy in 4 days, I really thought this ending would be better.
- Cheating (even if "justified") is not okay in this type. It wasn't necessary; it could have waited until the end.
- Battle taking up 2 pages - not okay.
- No real resolution. Everything happened fast or didn't happen at all. No character development.
Sigh. Worst ending to a trilogy. Off to read something funny now.

Ok I have to say it was a shaky start for me but I really loved how this book came together and how all the parts worked to make this Trilogy something you can’t put down.
I had so many characters I loved Loki, Wendy, Finn, Willa, Tove, Matt, Reese.
I wasn’t a fan of the Queen until I was and even liking she shocked me.
I loved how Wendy grew as a character throughout the books she is why I kept reading and enjoying the books. I know I said before her not standing up for herself bugged me but really she was only doing what she thought was best.
And most of the questions got answered. I loved the action in this book it was about time shit got real! :)
I can’t even tell you how much the ending meant, LOVED LOVED LOVED!
And the narration again Therese is just awesome. I love everything about her voice.
*You don't have to like my review but its 100% my opinion, and I am allowed to have it.*

The end of the trilogy was without a doubt the best one of the three books. Even though, I would only give it a punctuation of 3,5 because the ending it's too fairy-tale-y. It's fun and easy to read, but not a masterpiece.
May 2011 Review:
I cannot say how much I LOVED this series!! Wendy played a head strong character and what can i say about the guys...Loved them both but the better man won, and I'm so happy for that. The book was filled with action/romance/humor and that in the end is what makes a good book. I was sad to see the series end but it was ended perfectly!

“Princess." He smiled up at me, but it was weak. "If I'd known that this is what it would take to get you to hold me, I would've collapsed a long time ago.”
“I don't want only one night. I want all the nights. I want all of you, forever.”
After re-reading Ascend and the whole Trylle Trilogy I have to say I had forgotten how much I enjoyed this series! I would recommend it nonstop and knew I loved it but when reading again I forgot just how much!
Ascend picks up a few months after Torn finished. Wendy is now slowly taking over the responsibilities of a Queen. The people of Trylle are giving Wendy a hard time because of her being a mix of Vittra and Trylle but she is adamant of showing them that she will be a good ruler. On top of that she is battling her growing feelings for Loki, trying to push away her feelings for Finn, and planning her wedding to someone she likes but doesn't love. It is much more then any 18 yr old girl can handle.
In Ascend we not only see Wendy grow up but we see her finally become the Queen that everyone knew she would be. She fights for her people, wants change for them in the form of equality, she would sacrifice herself for them. We see a lot of devastation in Ascend but we also see a lot of unity. We see how Wendy and Tove both as Prince and Princess/Queen and King start to make changes little by little.
I loved the dynamic of Tove/Wendy, not a romantic dynamic but as rulers and leaders. Both were strong and both wanted the same for their kingdom. I believed that they did the right thing in uniting for the kingdom but was sad because they both didn't love each other. Which leads me to Finn and Loki. In Ascend Wendy finally gets fed up with Finns aloofness and decides that its time to move on. After breaking things with Finn she is surprised to realize that she cares about Loki much more then she realized. When he shows up at her stairs, beat to an inch of his death and asking for Amnesty, Wendy quickly takes care of him and grows protective of him. During the time that Loki is staying in the palace Wendy and he spend more time together and as their love blossoms we see another side of Loki that makes us root for them to be together and have their happily ever after.
In Ascend there is a lot of character development and alot of loss but it is what makes the series so great. I loved this series and hope that others enjoy it as much. If you haven't tried this do yourself a favor a pick it up!

A momentum-killer conclusion to a promising trilogy.
A fantastic end to the trilogy. I know alot of people had an issue with who wendy ended up with but to be honest it seemed a bit more real than if everything went exactly her way. Not everything is always a perfectly ever after, and I applaud Amanda for keeping it realistic. The main characters were strong and very easy to relate to. Wendy was a fantastic character and Tove was very sweet and you felt like you wanted to protect him because he was so vulnerable. I honestly was not expecting much from this trilogy as I paid about $3 on amazon for the kindle version but after reading the first one I was hooked. A worthy investment for my bookshelf!
Great ending to a great trilogy! I was so captivated by the story the whole time! I recommend this to anyone who wants a quick read but a wonderful story!
I don't think I've ever felt this happy finishing a series. I am so happy with this ending, I think I might cry. Everything is so perfect.
This one is definitely the best in this trilogy! There is so much more development for the world and the characters! And Wendy's character arc through this who series is absolutely amazing and she grows so much , especially in this book!
