This was super creepy and slightly morbid while being absolutely beautiful. Absolutely recommend for those intrigued by blends of the creepy and the whimsical.
I am reminded of The Gashlycrumb Tinies by Gorey when I read this. That intense level of darkness where death is a casual brutality to these cute little characters. Mixed in with the darkest of humor. I do wish there was more in the way of answers but some things left off-screen isn't so bad a thing. Perhaps to spawn your own private fairy tales.
This graphic novel easily proves that darkness can easily go alongside cuteness and beauty.
As a sort of darker and weirder Alice in Wonderland, we're introduced to a set of characters that eat and kill and die as easily as they share a meal or a song, in a mixture that shouldn't work as well as it does here.
Easily one of the most alluring tales about what lurks in the outside when we are gone, and how, fairy tales have always been and will always remain, a dark exposition of our minds.

This was a lot.
Cute characters + horror = me, wide eyes and feeling a bit sick

While the illustrations are beautiful and charmingly sweet, the story and characters are somewhat ghoulish. This comic has a cruelty about it that reminded me of German fairy tales. A very quick read, all in all. One negative thing: the story provides no answers as to why there is a dead child or why anything is happening. I think it fit with the tone of the comic, but I know that this probably is troublesome to most.
