I’ve been reading the Armand Gamache series in order. They are all page turners. I become completely immersed in the characters and the story to the point where I can't put it down. I feel apart of the characters lives and want to move to Three Pines.

One of my all time favs in the series!! So many complicated themes of friendship and love and wow I cried multiple times

Mind. Blown.

You really need to have read some (if not all) of the prior books to get the depth of the relationships between the most recurring characters and to get the impact of what happens in this mystery. And reading those books as well as this one will be worth every single page.

A little slower burn but I love the unfolding of overlapping worlds, especially with the map mystery. There’s something profoundly holy about the interaction between Gamache and Chocquet, over large portions of their lives. What a beautiful story of redemption and forgiveness, especially taken as a whole with the end.

4.5. Gamache takes on the Surete academy. Another excellent entry in the series. Gamache, Beauvoir, Lacoste, and all my Three Pines homies are quite possibly my favorite collection of characters in literature. This one really kept me guessing and there was quite a shock in the end.
