The Ten Thousand Doors of January by Alix E. Harrow was a joy to read. The imaginative world drew me in right away, and the beautiful writing style, which I’ve come to expect from Harrow, made it a delight to follow. I loved the way the story evolved, slowly opening Door after Door into something bigger. The fact that romance wasn’t at the forefront was a plus for me. I do enjoy romance, but not in every book, and here it allowed the other themes to shine. As a fan of portal fantasy, this book gave me everything I was hoping for. Just like Water Moon did, which I read last. Most of all, I adored watching January grow and find her own path, which made the journey all the more rewarding.
Overall, it’s a gorgeously written portal fantasy full of imagination, growth, and wonder.

This was not for me. It wasn’t bad exactly, but the writing was not for me. So overwrought. Saccarine. Not a bad story, entertaining.

this started off pretty slow but did pick up a bit once the more action-y parts started happening. not a face book, but it was def enjoyable. I did use the audiobook along with the physical book and I'm unsure if I would've been able to finish it without it. the characters were interesting and the worlds were interesting as well

Loved the world, narration got a tiny bit confusing at times, want more info about vampires/different worlds.
This was exquisite. Not perfect, but so damn good. January and Jane and Sam. It's just a great story. I thin my only gripe was that it didn't feel authentic to the time at all. I didn't feel liek it was turn of the previous (previous) century. But other than that it was a very enjoyable story. Tense at times and magical at times.
And Ms Harrow has a great turn of phrase, she lays down some beautiful sentences. And i adore the way she talks about words.
All in all a danm good story.

It’s rather embarrassing, how much I cried while reading this book (particularly the last 100 pages or so). Could you imagine? Having a story like this, burrowing in your mind, restless as fingers hovering over a keyboard?
The story was beautiful, in thatyes-it-does-end-happily-for-almost-every-single-character way, but I’m not mad about it because it was hard fought and earned (when, really, who get’s to say someone should have to earn that sort of thing anyway?) It broke my heart. It spoke to me. I loved it.
