The Endgame

4.15 AVERAGE

Rating is 4.5 rounded up to 5 ⭐️

“You’re my endgame. You’re it for me.”

“I don’t know what I want or who I am.”
“Mine,” West answered. “That’s who and what you are, Hawkins. You’re mine.”

**Synopsis:**
A chance meeting in a DC bar creates an instant connection between Anson and Weston. Although Weston (a U.S. Senator) doesn’t hide his sexual preferences, Anson (a pro football player) is not out of the closet.
Through phone calls and texts, these two build a friendship that ultimately turns into much more. But with Anson’s fear of going public and what that could mean for his career, these two are forced to keep their relationship hidden.
On top of that obstacle, they don’t live in the same city and travel a lot for their respective careers. Therefore, being together might be infrequent but their stolen moments together mean the world to them and they don’t take it for granted.
They have some significant obstacles, but they are determined to protect and treasure what they have because they know it’s just a matter of time until they get their HEA.

~ “Thank you for sitting beside me at the bar that night…for believing in me, for supporting me, for never walking away.”

**The following are my thoughts about this book: **
* * there was something about Weston and Anson that just grabbed me from the start. Their banter at the bar immediately established their connection and hinted at the fun they would have together.

~ “Fuck, it was a long day.”
I tried to reply, my voice coming out strangely husky when I said, “You can say that again, man.”
“Fuck, it was a long day.”
He winked, and as stupid as what he’d said was, I snickered.

~ “I’ll also have the T-bone, but unlike my friend over here, I know how to eat a steak, so medium for me.
“I know how to eat a steak,” I found myself saying once the bartender left. “I just prefer it not be alive when I eat it.”

* * I liked that they built a friendship first. Weston knew what he wanted but he didn’t pressure Anson into anything. He was supportive and he let Anson work through his sexual preferences without any persuasion. They had good chemistry as friends and it established a good foundation for them for the rest of their journey.

* * their phone calls, texts, video chats, face to face interactions…..their chemistry was electric no matter how they were communicating.

* * I liked that the paraplegic brother was not portrayed as a helpless, disabled victim. He was a strong character and a good support to Anson.

* * I thought the author did a good job of keeping the focus on all the obstacles someone can face when hiding a relationship, the unhappiness of living a lie and the fear of coming out.
~ “Coming out isn’t about being brave. There are real, honest worries involved. People who have never experienced it, wouldn’t understand that.”

* * thank you Riley Hart for not creating unnecessary drama. No cheating, no miscommunication.

Absolutely phenomenal!! I've never read a story about a Senator and a football player. I loved that this story was about an out gay senator that had such a good heart!! Cocky yes but a freaking marshmallow heart!! And Anson!! Oh My! This book was so darn good!!

That was absolutely perfect!

The way Ansen grew and changed in this book was incredible. It felt like agony at first, reading all of his secrets and thoughts, but after meeting West… amazing!

I love how both MCs were perfect for each other in their own way. The relationship develops slowly and just how it was supposed to go. And when they’re together

West and Anson ♡ They were great together and I LOVED West so much.

Eh…it was fine. Nothing particularly special about the characters or storyline. I guess I had high expectations because most of the people I follow (who have similar tastes) gave it 5 stars.

Loved this one! Captures everything I enjoy about a good romance story. True love won’t be denied.

Amazing MM book x

Ok so I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again.. something about MM just hits DIFFERENT

4.5? 4.75? I will decide after I get some sleep but this was everything, Anson is my baby and West was great too, they had all the chemistry and the tension and the angst and the spice and the wholesome adorable moments.
