The last 43 pages of this book blew me away. It was a soft 3 stars until Rorschach. But damn. Sociopaths are people too. And everyone’s got something, and everyone’s faced with others projections, and everyone’s got work to do. This memoir is a beautiful feat - the awareness, the knowledge, the resources, the bravery!

“I was already underwater before I remembered I’d forgotten to breathe. A feeling I realized that had long ago become my baseline”

I read this so fast—for one: I borrowed the audiobook on Libby and really enjoyed the author’s voice. She’s a fantastic reader for someone who struggles to convey feeling.

Secondly, this is the exact reason I love memoirs—we get to read the life and story of a sociopath and get to try to understand what someone with this condition goes through.

Her story was interesting and brought new light on a topic I’ve never really thought about.
