I will always find something I love and relate to in Amanda Lovelace's writing. It's not for everyone but it is absolutely gorgeous to me. It's amazing to see how far she's come from her first release (crazy to think I've been supporting her since the beginning).

This is such a beautiful collection of poetry, especially for those of you who have older sisters or maybe even younger as it is told from the perspective of an older sister giving their younger sister advice.

As always, Lovelace did it again ❤️ I love her writing, I feel like I can understand the meaning and it hits home oftenly. This one was very feminist and about sisterhood, mental and biological.
I got a ARC for this book courtesy of NetGalley in exchange for a review.
I gotta be honest, I have read almost all of Amanda Lovelaces books. I was sooo stocked to see this and be privileged enough to read this book early! Of course, it did NOT disappoint. It was 100% relatable (and I am in my 30's) and I think that my favorite part was the splashes of artwork. I am certain that the physical book will be stunning.
That being said... one take away, she talks about "treating yourself" to movies and dates. I know we all need our "me time" to unwind ant relax but in this pandemic centric world we live in, I am not certain that is a good idea. I wish she would have included things to do to treat yourself that do not include being out in public. Maybe a facial mask, painting your nails, lotions, a bubble bath or bath bomb. Reading a book, watching your favorite movie. Learning to cook a new dish.
Otherwise this book was fantastic.

I have received this book from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.
I know that there are feminists complaining about the "mainstream-ization" of the movement. They argue that by bringing it into the pop culture, the feminist gets to be forecasted as a stereotypical girl wearing t-shirts with edgy wording and sporting a hell of an attitude for all the bad reasons.
On the other had, I think that a little pop culture never hurt nobody.
What does that have to do with this poem's book?
In my view this book was a perfect example of an Instagram page that calls itself feminist. There are pretty drawings that follow pretty words mushed together from which you can make a post at your leisure. They are just the properly amount of quirky and reactive.
”she wants a life
Like you see in movies---“
Perfectly safe lines, nothing too problematic. Here is another quote-ish line, with a bit more depth:
”love is not
Always the answer”
The book was designed as a conversation between sisters. I think that it might help teenage girls, if not in life, at least to see a conversation about them.

It was not a bad book.
It was just boring and repetitive and redundant.
But that may be that I have already read some [a:Andrea Dworkin|23879|Andrea Dworkin|https://images.gr-assets.com/authors/1280820472p2/23879.jpg] and [a:Beauvoir Simone De|5187543|Beauvoir Simone De|https://s.gr-assets.com/assets/nophoto/user/u_50x66-632230dc9882b4352d753eedf9396530.png].

This book threw me to another world and I didn’t want to come back. The princess deserves to be her own queen ❤️
The music was so soothing and I couldn’t stop myself from listening to the audio book in the single go.
Though I wished that the book should have had a little more slammed poetry feel.
