Humor is already such a natural part of my life, I loved reading how that is actually a good thing. I love the encouragement for leaders in general to start taking themselves less seriously and I have used some of the tips to incorporate humor more into meetings

What a delightful book! It’s not life changing but it is inspiring. I feel more equipped to use humor more often at work and personally. I’m elated to see research and examples of how humor can make productive, effective work cultures. For a nonfiction book I found myself laughing and relishing all of the good jokes, puns, and graphs in this book.

NPR: How to: not deep, but some fun stories and tips

I thought the tips on how to bring humor into the workplace was helpful (I.e. you don’t have to be funny yourself, but can just focus on laughing at other people’s jokes; tips on how to remind people of humorous interactions in email, etc). A LOT of the stories in the book I had heard before as a lot of them were Stanford alum stories (and I am a Stanford alum), but the stories didn’t feel new.

This book seemed overly tailored to corporate America. I think the authors also focused too much on making jokes in every other line rather than covering useful content.

Narrators switched on/off, so it was very choppy. And even though it's about humor, it comes off very self-centered, like a vanity project for the authors, while also being obnoxious instead of funny.
