I think I might be outgrowing the school for gifted children trope, or the market might be too saturated with this style after the surge post-Harry Potter. Either way, this book didn’t seem to pick up until they left the school and began their assignments. I really enjoyed Cliff’s character arc, and wish the other characters were more in that style. Namely, it seemed that the reasons that some people at the school were there for to remove a inconvenient and bad person, but not possibly evil. I wanted more of a ethical debate and deliberation over the idea of if “deleting” someone is acceptable, and if so how do you measure their need for removal? I wanted people who were getting rid of pedophilic priests, abusive partners, and oil executives. Instead it seemed like
it was people going after great aunt Betsy because she was a mean person who wouldn’t give you her inheritance (though this is not the case for the main characters targets).

Despite all of my hopes for the book to dive deep into the opportunity to test the waters of this stories fantastic premise, it still was an enjoyable read.

I really enjoyed this book. Kind of expected a mystery but this was not the type of story at all. Its very unique to anything I've read before. The narrative compells you to care for the would-be murderers with rich backgrounds and funny tone. I would recommend this as a fall read thats dark but not spooky.

This book had some superb writing. I was laughing quite a bit throughout, but it definitely appeals to my particular sense of humor. Well structured and paced. I enjoyed the second half of the book more than I expected to, and it was overall a delight

DNF. I liked the plot premise of this novel but it was too slow and I didn’t care enough if he actually was able to learn everything and carry through on killing his former boss.
