slow but i love nikolai

Very dark feeling but it gets the direness of the situation across. I can see people not liking this as there's nothing bright, very little 'payoff' for all the sadness but it's a fantastic book.

"Fear is a powerful ally "

Siege and Storm is such a difficult book to rate for me. On one hand I really love the world of the Grisha. I adore the way the story is written, the world Leigh Bardugo has built for us. I love how the Grisha are divided by their powers and how the world is in political shambles.

When it comes to characters I love Nikolai , and how we get to know this new character that brings up so much to the story.
I also really enjoy the Darkling's arc but thought he was missing a little bit in this book.

What I hate is who the sun summoner is. Alina is a terrible hero. I don't think she has it in her to be the Sun Summoner the world has been waiting for. She is whiny and controlling and we are made to want to root for a person who can't even root for herself. The problem is that she doesn't even try. She just complains and whines and hopes that things will change the next time she wakes up. She is really annoying and I found myself wanting to skip pages whenever she was involved. Clearly, that becomes difficult when she is the main character in this book.
Mal, is a great character and I keep wondering what he sees in Alina... They are so unlike each other in many ways yet he seems to gravitate towards her. Can't he see how controlling she is? How angry she gets when someone else dares to look his way?

That being said, the world and everything in it is amazing but Alina truly ruins the experience for me. I will definitely read the last book in the series simply because I have to if I want to explore Bardugo's other works.

Thank you Rebecca for reading this me. Without you I would have DNFed this book a long time ago.

L’histoire est vraiment bien, le style de Leigh Barduo très agréable à lire mais ça traîne beaucoup trop en longueur. Il y a trop peu d’action pour un livre de plus de 400 pages, seuls les deux derniers chapitres sont vraiment prenants !

Overall it was good. I felt that it dragged on for a little too long and the Mal situation just got a little redundant. Loved the cliffhanger though!! Great twist!
