Crisp writing, but I never connected with any of the characters. I did like that the story arc was complete from beginning to end.
I have so many questions when it comes to this book! It’s my first book by this author and while I enjoyed the writing style, it was all over the place and way too many characters and storylines. My main questions is why is Michael Hyde so set on going after Katie and her family? Also who killed Alan lol! I will definitely read his other works because I’ve heard many good things but this one was a 2.5 rounded up to 3.
I absolutely loved The Whisper Man and The Shadows so I was definitely excited for a new book by North. However though, after seeing A LOT of mixed reviews about this book I was definitely nervous for it and why I put off reading it for a while. I did find the concept of the book to be intriguing and I definitely flew through it with the short chapters and wanting to know what was going to happen. Personally, I didn’t have a hard time following along with the story but I can see why a lot of people found it super confusing and hard to follow. There definitely is a lot going on and multiple POV’s and I honestly found it boring a majority of the time. It picked up a lot towards the end and I found myself continuing flipping the pages.
Overall, I didn’t mind this one from Alex North but it definitely wasn’t my favorite nor his best in my opinion. There were dark parts and made it creepy at times with the serial killer aspect.
Thank you to NetGalley and Celadon Books for my ARC!

His books never disappoint!! They hook you from the beginning! This could be a fast read for people that have time because it always keeps you interested. I love watching the story unfold and I close the book after that last sentence going “whaaat!” This author should be talked about more!!
This took me on a wild ride. Readers HAVE to stick with it, it's a bit bumpy at first but within the first 15 pages, it took off down the highway. I was able to figure just about everything in the first half but was then THROWN a major swerve; did NOT see it coming. If you like serial killers and mysteries, this is one for you.

Utterly maniacal. But I enjoyed every minute of it (tis the season and all). Although, thriller/horror/mystery isn't typically my favorite genre, I've found myself REALLY enjoying them lately. And this is no exception. Very well written. I found myself so engaged I was on autopilot. Really enjoyed this.

The Angel Maker by Alex North
When she was seventeen years old, Katie put herself ahead of her younger brother and she'll never forgive herself. While she was off with her boyfriend, Chris was being attacked by a madman. Already something of an outcast, Chris drew farther and farther away from functioning well in life. Now, as adults, Katie and Chris are estranged and Katie sees no hope of reconciliation.
Years ago, Detective Laurence Page was on the scene after Chris was attacked. Now he's on the scene of the brutal murder of a distinguished professor and this death seems to be connected to Chris's attack and to a serial killer. So far, so good, I was very interested in what was happening in this story. But as we progress, there are many timelines, many people (some with more than one identity/name) and a lot of confusion about where we are in time and what the characters are even discussing. Finally I was lost and by the end of the book, I had a hard time figuring out what had really happened and whether I could trust most of the characters.
I really like the way that North writes children and would have loved for the story to have focused more on Katie and her family and experienced the story more through her eyes. Maybe I could have kept up better if the story was in chronological order. This is a huge mystery, the horror is real, but I don't buy into a huge part of this story that I won't reveal.

Thank you NetGalley and Celadon books for the advanced readers copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
Woah I have so many opinions about this book and I need it to be released and one of my friends to read it so I can discuss it.
I was confused until around 55% of the way through the book and had to look at reviews to make sure I wasn’t the only one—which I was not! But 60% and on I couldn’t put the book down. Prior to that, it was a slow burn and I felt if I kept a notebook of everyone’s names it would’ve been helpful.
4/5 stars because the very last part in the ending I did not care for. And also being very confusing in the first half of the book.
I would classify this book as crime fiction and horror. It also kept giving me season 6 Dexter vibes. My first Alex North book, but not my last!
