Thank you to NetGalley and Celadon Books for this ARC!
Absolutely loved this creepy horror-thriller! Alex North did it again!
This book follows Katie Shaw who really has it all until a stranger hurts her brother. After this attack her brother is lead into a life of drugs. Years later Katie finds out her brother is now "clean" and is back in touch with their mother but has now gone missing. Katie feels she owes it to her brother to find out what happened even if that means putting her own family in danger.
I really enjoyed this book, often finding it hard to put it down. This book does have many POVs and at the beginning you may be confused. BUT stick with it! Everything comes together in a beautifully twisted way!

A dark, suspenseful new thriller about the mysteries of fate, the unbreakable bond of siblings, and a notorious serial killer who was said to know the future.
I just want to start off by saying that this is the first book by Alex North that I have read and I went in blind so I really didn't know what to expect.
This book has multiple time lines and POV's. At times I had a hard time keeping things straight in my head. At the beginning I felt completely lost as to what was going on but by the midway point I was able to grasp it.
I haven't listening to a lot of audiobooks that aren't nonfiction so I wasn't used to having to pay close attention to the story. My opinion is I probably would have enjoyed the physical copy better rather than the audio.
Thank you @celadonbooks and @netgalley for an ARC and ALC in exchange for an honest review.

A little philosophical, a little meta, a little bit of a supernatural twist housed in an intriguing crime/mystery.
You'd think these differing themes would make for a patchwork mess.
But they're skillfully woven and end up in a page turner of a story that keeps you guessing all the way. Loved it.

Thank you to MacMillan audiobook for the review copy of Angel Maker by Alex North. I think this might be a book that is better for me as a reader in physical form as compared to an audiobook; the production and voice acting are fine but it's just a confusing plot with a lot of timeline issues/characters to track and this is a kind of book that rarely works for me as an audiobook. So take my review for what it is, a comment on a story that might be great but might not be the best for audiobook.
what worked: an interesting plot for fans, like me, of the serial killer genre and general suspense fans. I admit I wouldn't say this is a thriller per se, a bit too slow burn for me to say it has a steady thriller suspense vibe, but it did make me wonder what was going on/how the story would resolve.
Themes on philosophy/fate and family bonds and connections are also welcome and well developed so this is a book that could foster some interesting discussions!
rating: 3 star audiobook, 4 star narration/acting style, 4 star plot potential.

DNF at around 40%. I felt like the book had no idea what was going on and neither did I.
The Angel Maker was a total build up of suspense. My shoulders are still tense from the ending. I don't want to give too much away....if I start telling you it will all come out.
I enjoy a good story where I question and look up some things I learn from reading as well.
I have read Alex North since the The Whisper Man, but this one was so well done. Hard to follow? Yes, but there's method behind the madness and it makes for a wonderfully delicious tale of a thriller!
Thank you NetGalley and Celadon Books.
This one will take a while to leave my brain.

I really enjoyed this dark mystery/thriller. Though I admit I felt a little lost early on. There were a lot of characters to keep straight. I didn’t need to resort to making a spreadsheet-but I was tempted! As I got further into the book it was easier to remember everyone and I really enjoyed the story.
This was a dark crime novel but not super disturbing. I thought the writing was great. I sometimes avoid crime fiction because some authors spend too much time on gory details making the reading experience unpleasant! This had just the right formula for me. I really enjoyed the hint/possibility of a supernatural element.
I enjoyed The Shadows by Alex North so I was super excited to get this as an ARC from NetGalley. I’m now more eager to read my copy of The Whisper Man!
