Two old cases hold the clues to finding out who has killed distinguished professor Alan Hobbes- a gruesome attack on a teen and a notorious serial killer said to have been able to see the future. Katie Shaw is the older sister of Christopher, the boy who was attacked- her brother, now a grown man, reaches out to Katie, desperately in need of her help. Detective Page is assigned the Hobbes case, determined to find the connection between the past, present, and future.
This was a book club read, and while it sounds like something normally up my alley, there was just *too* much going on. A usual fan of multiple perspectives, there were too many things going on to make this a coherent story. The novel had a lot of pseudo-intellectual discourse of fate and destiny, numerous characters and names, and was hard to follow. The rest of my book club members liked it a *lot* more than I did, so take my review with a grain of salt. 2.5☆

I've read and loved North's work before but I just didn't find this one as compelling. I also didn't like some of his explanations in solving the case, it felt almost half throughout and left loose ends.

Alex North has quickly become one of my favorites and this book was no exception. I loved the layers and the character development and then redemption arc!

I was a fan of Alex north’s other two books but this was disappointing. It started out compelling but I was let down by where the story ultimately landed and Edward as the antagonist felt flat. The future prediction stuff could have been interesting but felt like it was rushed in at the very end.

Just okay. A let down after The Whisper Man and The Shadows.
