epistolary
I love a good epistolary novel. It brings me back to my elementary/middle school days when I read the Dear America and My Royal Diaries books. It's one of the earliest styles of writing in novelisation, and it remains a classic device in the popular imagination. There is just something wonderful about reading a story through the letters or communication of the main character(s). This novel can be traditional letters, or diary entries, or emails, text messages, transcripts or something like the masterpiece of documents, transcripts, chat logs, etc. that make up the Illuminae series (seriously the format is fantastic and I recommend both the physical and audiobook versions).
