The Periodic Table of the Chemical Elements - hosted by lalu

N - Nitrogen
The German word for nitrogen is Stickstoff, which can be roughly translated as "suffocation stuff". Funnily enough this French dude Amtoine Lavoisier suggested the name azote which is Greek for "no life" because of its asphyxiating properties. But in the end other French dude Jean-Antoine-Claude Chaptal who suggested nitrogène won. Whatever you want to call it - just make sure you don't inhale the pure stuff (though 78% is perfectly fine since that's the amount of nitrogen in our atmosphere).

an addition: I recently had to give a presentation about the Haber-Bosch-Process, which basically turns pure nitrogen and hydrogen into ammonia (NH3). Three guys (Haber, Bosch, and Ertl) got nobel prices for this process, but the real heroes (imo) were Alwin Mittasch and his team. Since nitrogen is almost inert, a very efficient catalyst is needed - so Mittasch and his team performed THOUSANDS of experiments to create the best catalyst.

Suggestions: a book with different titles, a book that took your breath away, a book in which someone suffocates, a book about not giving up ...
