I'll Be the One by Lyla Lee
5.0

I was so excited to get this for Christmas, and it completely lived up to my (high) expectations!

Everything was so well done, from the fantastic representation to Skye's wonderful narrative voice (and presumably her literal one, not that I could hear it, sadly) to the positive messaging and the cute romance. It took a bit for me to get into the romance, but I was captain of the ship by the end! I also really liked the way Skye's relationship with her mom was portrayed. I thought that it was very mature and acknowledged the imperfections and limitations that exist in parent-child relationships in a satisfying and healthy manner. So that was really nice. Beyond that, the actual plot of the book was really fun, and I want I'll Be the One to be a movie or TV show now, please! It was quite entertaining to follow Skye's adventures on the show. Bora sucked, by the way. Go Gary! Mixed feelings on Mr. Park.

All in all, I loved this to pieces and I'm really glad that I own a hardcover version of it, because the cover is super cute (I love how happy the cover model looks!) and I know for a fact that I'll be rereading it soon. 5 stars! Do yourself a favor and give this a read!
