Blood & Honey by Shelby Mahurin

5.0

Damn damn damn. This book was good! I love this series so much, that I think it's definitely in my top 3 and I just can't express how much I love it!

The writing was again, superb and smooth and super easy to read. I don't know how Shelby does it, but her books just have this really nice rhythm and I always find myself swept up in it. Not to mention how much I love the characters. Beau and Ansel always bickering with each other. Coco being badass, Reid being this stoic brute that's innocent but surprises you every once in a while. And ofc, Lou always singing big tiddy liddy and being this strong force.

I can't quite believe the end. It hurts A LOT. And I'll miss Ansel DEARLY. He was so sweet and I felt as though we were going to get a chapter where Ansel does something majorly heroic and finds peace within his insecurity but no. He's dead. And I hate it.

Oh, not to mention the cliff hanger we ended with. Seriously, La Voisin, making Lou drink a controlling potion. UGH. I hate that too. And I feel sort of bad for Reid because he's so sweet and said -

“You don’t get to do this alone. If you retreat into your mind—into your magic—I’ll follow you, Lou.” He shook me slightly, tears glistening in those frightened eyes. “I’ll follow you into that darkness, and I’ll bring you back. Do you hear me? Where you go, I will go.”

and I feel as though in the next book (that drops next tuesday!!!!!) we'll see Reid trying to help but seeing Lou slip further and further into the darkness. He'll feel helpless and it's not HIS FAULT! STUPID BLOOD WITCHES. UGH. I'm very annoyed if you can't tell.

Anyway, this book series is a MUST read in my opinion and is honestly some of the greatest writing I've ever read.

Ok, happy reading!!
