nope nope nope nope nope. this was NOT it. for every little victory, they were easily snatched away by every blatant setback. this isn’t a book that can be enjoyed while reading.
i get that victoria is trying to make a show out of the injustice of mare’s world, i really do. but the price of that is too high. i am trudging through this series, just barely hanging on, if only for the sake of finding out what happens in the last book. and even then, i’m bracing myself for the worst, for this series is very depressing so far.
none of the characters are very lovable. mare is infuriating, with her actions making no sense to me. i will never understand her, which makes me wonder if i’m even rooting for her at this point. i should, of course, but do i really? no. i am simply just waiting for the agony to be over.
