oh my god i had been meaning to read this FOREVER! finally got it from a library and it was so worth it. i think it is SO sad and yes i cried in class as i read this. i know it's surprising! anyway. i think many relate to xiomara in one way or another. the author did amazing at making xio feel so real. love this book. free verse never disappoints me!
