Havenfall by Sara Holland
1.0

DNF. I loved Everless and didn’t really enjoy Evermore, so I was very skeptical coming into Havenfall and unsure I was going to even like it. Sara Holland writes well. The cover is beyond gorgeous. This has a great plot line, however it wasn’t executed well. It’s really slow and boring. The world building is not the greatest as well as the character development and building. I cannot tell you anything that well about the characters because they really aren’t described.
Havenfall is about Maddie who goes to a place in Colorado every summer called Havenfall. It’s a hidden place that is magical. No one outside of the place knows about it. It’s Maddie’s escape from the real world where her mother is on death row and where her father disapproves of her going to Havenfall. Maddie’s dream is to one day be the innkeeper of Havenfall in the next decade or two, however that may happen sooner. On her first night back to Havenfall, her uncle, the innkeeper is attacked and is unconscious. So, Maddie has to find out how to stop the attacks, seal a portal, find out who is behind open the portal, and be the innkeeper during the Summit.
