Man I really wanted to love this book. It was just fine. It has everything I love, the idea was so good but the execution just fell really flat. I love a lot of detail in my books, and this book made it so hard to visualize anything. There are these biblical monsters and all you really get over and over is that they’re rotting and they have sharp teeth. Nothing is described; maybe that was an artistic choice but it made it really hard to be engrossed. The autistic rep was really great imo, but throwing the other 2 characters POV in there randomly made zero sense to me. You didn’t gain any insight into them more than you got from Benjis POV, idk why it was done. And the characters felt really one dimensional. I feel like so much happened but also nothing happened at the same time. I’m going to listen to another one of Andrew’s books bc I still loved the idea and the prose was good. But yeah this was just meh :/
