This book was such an easy read compared to other fantasy books. Although the world is new, it is set in something if historical.
A story set in the middle of the plague, at times you forget that this enemy is right around the corner. I think it encapsulates a lot of feelings felt about our current predicament.
It was nice that ultimately it wasn’t a story about love, friendship and finding out the truth was at its core.
I did have questions about the culture, because I a lot of the words/names of food had no set pattern. So is it all a mix of everything? Also, year of the reaper is an interesting but did not appear to be relevant to the plot.
Overall, I really liked it and the characters had such good chemistry of friendship that I could see in my head this being. made into a si glue season tv show.
