The Lost Dreamer by Lizz Huerta
4.0
“Trust that what is to be yours will be yours. The story we are a part of is much longer than any of us imagine.”
Bookstagram, we need to talk…why isn’t anyone else posting about this book? Why haven’t I seen it anywhere!!!
I picked this up at @thirdplacebooks SIMPLY because of how beautiful the cover is. I was aimlessly wandering around the YA Fantasy section and this one truly fell off the shelves, ACHING to come home with me. I thought this was a standalone (and who doesn’t love a good fantasy standalone) so I tore into it almost immediately after I got home.
The story is based on ancient Mesoamerican storytelling and is dual POVs with Indir and Saya. It is a little bit slow to start and the chapters are a bit long BUT it’s worth it. The writing is elegant and beautiful, especially for a debut, the connections in the story are so well done and the puzzle pieces that come together are magnificent.
THE ONLY DOWNSIDE? Turns out it’s NOT a standalone. It’s going to be a duology and based on where this one ends, the second book is going to be incredible.
