As Long as the Lemon Trees Grow by Zoulfa Katouh

5.0

My heart is bruised and battered. My stomach is churning and my eyes sting from tears both shed and unshed. And YET. There is starry-eyed hopefulness that is rooted in my chest. I love girls who carry strength in their bones and boys with resistance etched in their souls. This book was everything and I sincerely believe it should be required reading in high schools across the Western Hemisphere. Longer review to come later when it’s not 2am and I’m not aching.
