Elizabeth Acevedo is amazing. This was my first book in verse, and it flowed so well. The story of Xiomara was heartfelt and at times had me tearing up. The scene with the burning book---It was intense and felt everything. I can't believe it took me so long to read the book, but I am happy I did. This book is a powerhouse.
