"You think it will get easier," he says. "It will not. You are as good as gone, and every year you live will feel a lifetime, and in every lifetime, you will be forgotten. Your pain is meaningless. Your life is meaningless. The years will be like weights around your ankles. They will crush you, bit by bit, and when you cannot stand it you will beg me to put you from your misery."

I read this book without knowing much about it. Because of this I didn’t know what to expect. But I have to say, I was pleasantly surprised.
The idea of the curse is interesting, and it had some good parts. But the author could have done much more with the 300 years. I would have liked more places, not only Europe, UK, and the USA. Also, I would have loved more historical events, how Addie would have navigated her way through it and how Luc would have made her life harder so she would surrender. This power play could have been so much more.
But having said that: Luc definitely stole the show.
I wasn’t sure about him at first, but at the end I wanted to read more about him. For me, he was more interesting than Henry and Addie. The fights, sarcasm and ups and downs between him and Addie were way more entertaining than the plot twists and relationship between her and Henry. Which isn’t ideal because she was supposed to be in love with Henry, but I didn’t get the same chemistry as I got from her and Luc.
To sum it up, it could have done more with the curse and the 300-year journey but I still really enjoyed it. The events between the dark (Luc) and Addie are really great and the book is worth giving a shot.
