This was a slow and comforting read. The insight into self-compassion and its components - self-kindness, understanding of our shared humanity and mindfulness was refreshing to read and deepened my understanding of the nuances of an otherwise misused/misinterpreted term.

Part One and Part two of the book are essential reading to understand the core and essence of self-compassion. However i found Part three, four and five repetitive and inconsequential.

However this book is foundational to understand the core tenets of self-compassion and stands firmly as a ground breaking text on the subject.
