The Silence of Bones by June Hur

Did not finish book. Stopped at 90%.
I really, really struggled to get through this one. I found the writing extremely amateurish in a number of ways: the characterization, way information was revealed, the way seemingly random details were emphasized in physical descriptions when they weren't particularly important, as though the author had just thought of a cool poetic phrase she really wanted to use. Multiple people have told me her later books are much better; this is her debut novel and I think her writing was not really ready for professional publication yet, honestly.

I just skimmed the end of the book to get a sense of what happened, so I don't feel like I can say I read it in full. I was extremely done by that point though.
