This is now my favorite book. I love the characters, the fact that I felt like I knew these people in real life. Theo ripped my heart in two, Nick intrigued me beyond belief, and I felt Benji’s pain every step of the way. I felt punched in the gut, betrayed, stabbed in the back, and I resonated with so many emotions and thoughts. I totally recommend this to anyone during spooky season — if you can stomach it.
Graphic: Cursing, Genocide, Gore, Vomit, Death of parent, Emotional abuse, Fire/Fire injury, Grief, Blood, Deadnaming, Injury/Injury detail, Religious bigotry, Violence, Body horror, Hate crime, Homophobia, Transphobia, Death, Gun violence, Murder, Physical abuse, Torture, and War
Moderate: Bullying, Child death, Suicide attempt, Mass/school shootings, Medical content, Mental illness, Panic attacks/disorders, Toxic relationship, Dysphoria, and Forced institutionalization
Minor: Sexual content, Body shaming, Misogyny, Animal death, Suicidal thoughts, and Sexism
Don’t read this if you’re easily queasy.
