Chlorine is a horror novel about a competitive swimmer who believes she is a mermaid. Ren is a high school junior for most of the story. We follow her mostly at swim practice and at home as she thinks about how to transform herself into a mermaid. Full of body horror and commentary on athletics, racism, sexual assault, self harm, and power dynamics between coach/athletes and men/women.
