As Long as the Lemon Trees Grow by Zoulfa Katouh

challenging dark emotional inspiring reflective sad tense fast-paced

I cried during the entirety of this book. It's a hard and emotional read but it has to be. There's no words of comfort I can begin to convey that would be enough for every single moment and character in this book.

At the end, this book is a scream of freedom and love.

To every person who's been forced to leave their home. To every child forgotten by the world. To every person who has fought oppression to their bones. To every doctor and medical staff who gets up every day for the sake of their patients. To every person, adult, child or unborn, whose government has refused them the very basic human right to a life, and a life of freedom.
