This book is for a person who enjoys watching reality tv shows with characters that have terrible decision making skills.
I listened to this on audiobook and the plot drew me in and I thought it would be cute. The characters were MUCH younger than I anticipated with its being a "reality show to date your past ex's" and it showed in their emotional reactions. Maya is an absolute menace, she is the ex who was cheated on by the MMC and goes on the show to "get her revenge" but does an absolute terrible job by being impulsive, getting drunk, and belittling the other girls on the very first night. I wanted to root for her but her inability to literally take any direction or just stop aggravating the situation left me more annoyed than empathic towards her. Skye is the counter part of the story and is the girl that the MMC cheated with. She was unaware that he was still with Maya and the second she learns the truth Maya and her go from hating to making out in the span of a day it feels like. It was extremely fast turn around with little development.
I was underwhelmed by the lack of character development and the overall execution of the main plot which is what drew me in. The characters are very one dimensional and I had hope with Skye's backstory of her mom but that was also not fleshed out enough to make it impact the story enough emotionally.
Overall I know that this is a book for a certain reader, it just personally was not a story for me.
