This is the exact type of horror I like. I love body horror and gore but somehow, despite it being at the front of the entire story, it doesn't feel disturbing enough that my friends can't enjoy it just as much. I love the exploration of the beauty of queerness and transness through monstrosity and abstract body changes, not just a standard coming out story or only one form of how to be trans. It also beautifully explores the aspects of Christian fascism in the modern world and how queer youth and people of color would be affected.
