I found it hard to connect to the characters, I don’t think their personalities, with the exception of Marin, were distinct enough for me to root for any of them.

Nella and Johannes seemed largely indifferent to each other until suddenly they were super close.

The miniaturist part was intriguing but then never really explained or revealed in a satisfying way.
