The Art of Simple Food: Notes, Lessons, and Recipes from a Delicious Revolution by Alice Waters

4.0

I find this cookbook very useful if you are a beginner chef or cook, as she teaches basic fundamentals of cooking that will help one build on those techniques further on.

However, it is odd the way the recipes are set up with the ingredients listed throughout the recipe as opposed to in a list before the recipe starts. The way I am used to seeing recipes would maybe make it a little difficult to do a mise en place , but to each their own.

I started culinary school this year, and my Chef instructor give us the advice to just study and read cookbooks, becoming familiar with different cuisines and techniques. I am glad I chose this book as the first one to study, as there are definitely several recipes in here I want to try and practice with.
