I really did enjoy this book. Why not 5 stars? I think Ava tried to add to many things to 400 pages. Because of that the story sometimes felt rushed.
I also wished the pagan part of the story got deepened out more and the romance wasn’t that important. I don’t think this story needed a clear romance to work, a friendship would’ve worked as well.
All in all, great book. Gave me Naomi Novik vibes.
Beware since there is quite a lot of antisemitism in this book. As far as I can judge it wasn’t in a problematic way, but an educating way. I am however not Jewish.
