I am almost at a loss for words for how to rate this heartbreakingly beautiful book. It had everything; sadness, loss, a plot twist that emotionally destroyed me and had me audibly sobbing, but also tender sweet moments as Salama found hope and happiness in simple moments.
The writing style and the way Katouh draws you in is just as captivating as the way the story plays out. The way this book was based in factual moments (as commented on in the author's note) but grew around those events was just amazing.
A billion stars. I am absolutely in awe over this debut novel and cannot wait to be emotionally destroyed by this author again in the future.
