A Study in Charlotte by Brittany Cavallaro

5.0

This is by far the best Holmes retelling that I've read. I love that the main characters are in the Sherlock Holmes universe but having them be descendants gives the writer the ability to adapt them. She isn't confined to the Sherlock and John duo that we know and love. She was able to brilliantly blend the old and the new and produce something spectacular. Having Holmes be a girl adds a whole new element to the story where she can adapt her appearance and disguise herself with a little makeup and some hair product.

Milo, her brother, is the perfect new Mycroft to her Sherlock and having there be multiple Moriartys is exhilarating to read about. I can't wait to read book two!
