This book had me crying in the first twenty pages, I haven’t read a book like this in a long time.

The main character, Salama is an 18 year old pharmacy student who is forced to grow up and take the roles of being a caretaker, a doctor and much more beyond her years in the midst of the Syrian Revolution. This book takes you through her journey of how the world breaks her down and builds her up. Zoulfa Katouh touches on a lot of sensitive topics such as grief, trauma, PTSD and graphic violence in this book.
