Truly Devious by Maureen Johnson

5.0

1st read

First- this is possibly, easily, one of the best books I’ve read and now one of my all time favorites.

Now onto the story itself: I loved everything about it?? The setting, the Ellingham case, the way the povs were being switched, how things that didn’t seem important because they were presented in beginning were, in fact, REALLY important to the story... So on, so son.

The writing is SO good and compelling, I didn’t want to stop reading for a second. Stevie’s character is someone I truly felt connected to, and I seeing her so excited about crime stuff and getting close to the Ellingham case made me want to adopt her, or at least include her into my list of favorite characters.

The open ending and plot twists left me breathless and I can’t wait to read the sequel to this. 10/10 would recommend to those who already enjoy mysteries, or to those who’d like to read something with that theme but easy to read to.

2nd read

Is it possible to fall even more in love with a story after rereading it? Because I did.

Stevie, my child, I WILL PROTECT YOU FROM ALL THE HARM!!!!!
