I really loved this book! It was such a fantastic follow-up to One Dark Window, and an amazing finale to the duology. I love Rachel Gillig's writing.
I was so glad to have more of Elspeth and Ravyn's story, how it's so intertwined with the Nightmare's story. We learned so much more about these characters, how they are so effected by the trauma they have experienced and the people that they know. I was so invested in Elspeth and Ravyn's stories from ODW. But the true surprise? Elm and Ione become main characters with POVs in this book. At first I wasn't sure how I would feel about it, but I absolutely loved this addition!! I think this is the first time I've read a series where side characters become main characters in a sequel, and I am so incredibly caught up in their story, the same as I am for the original main characters. The addition of Elm and Ione's perspectives was absolutely brilliant and added an extra element to the story. Their characters are so integral, and the growth that they had was fantastic.
The way that the duology came to an end was absolutely perfect. I teared up more than once with the ending, and I am going to miss this story and the characters. I will definitely be revisiting this duology in future, and cannot wait to see what Rachel Gillig comes up with next!
