The Body Keeps the Score: Brain, Mind, and Body in the Healing of Trauma by Bessel van der Kolk
Did not finish book. Stopped at 68%.
It's a very dense read, not inaccessible, but with very heavy themes discussed openly throughout. I'd like to get a paper copy so I could examine the treatments section and skim over any triggering content.
Graphic: Medical trauma, Sexual assault, Rape, Pedophilia, Panic attacks/disorders, Mental illness, Car accident, Child abuse, and Death
Moderate: Incest, Violence, Medical trauma, Medical content, Mental illness, Grief, Domestic abuse, Death, and Blood
This book is very important to trauma therapy and can be used by those seeking treatment but with caution, as much of the medical and psychiatric research detailed is illustrated with graphic descriptions of trauma.
