Almost American Girl by Robin Ha

4.0

I thought this book was excellent. I found it to be a heartbreaking story that accentuated the difficulties of moving and trying to fit in in a new environment not to mention a new country. Through the obvious racism the main character, Chuna (also Robin) faces it is clear that she will struggle to fit in and because her first language is Korean and not English this becomes infinitely harder. This story is about finding yourself even through the hardships, and I feel that this story really came full circle teaching readers that there’s always a place in the world even if it is not obvious.
