This book reminded me of all my religious trauma and then helped me heal it all over again. I cannot begin to describe the satisfaction of seeing queer people win in face of bigotry.
I remember thinking I am an abomination, a monster. But I've long come to terms with the fact that if I am, I won't be the type they want me to. (also I find it absolutely fascinating how monsters have been used as a metaphor for queerness so much and how I've always been drawn to terrifying (fictional) creatures, always seeing the beauty in the monstrosity - maybe a corelation is there who knows)
Also I was in a reading slump after rereading my favorite series, but this got me out of it. My brainrot over my comfort characters consumed me these days (quite similar to the Flood if I may say) but there were so many parallels between them and the Watch that I couldn't put this book down. I've spent my whole day reading this on company's time and this is the most productive and meaningful thing I've ever done at work. Absolutely amazing.
