this book was a rollercoaster ride for me. i loved, hated it, and was confused by it many times over through the course of reading it. things i liked: variation on a linear story, the "choose your own adventure" feel of it, and the fact that it did make me react to the writing in a very strong way. what i didn't like: the innumerable references that i did not get and the jazz and alcohol influenced bohemian rantings in the story
