A Lesson in Vengeance
by Victoria Lee
I was immersed in this from the start. Lee's dark academia backdrop and unreliable narrator serves as the hook in and of itself. Hooked, I dove deep into this book with the understanding that Ellis would eventually be part of the problem or the solution. As the pages turned, the characters felt stagnant. The setting and mysterious death of Felicity's girlfriend kept me going, but there didn't seem to be a real conflict until the very end, which is also very quickly resolved. In hindsight, the foreshadowing was there but poorly done, in my opinion. All in all, 3/5 stars was a generous rating for me mostly based on the solid portrayal of dark academia through the setting descriptions.
