Interesting premise but the whole story reads as one traumatic event after another with no catharsis in sight until the very end of the book. Not really what I want from my fantasy. 
 

The only thing that kept me invested in the story was Sloane's friendships with the other recruits, especially Amiyah. So when they're pitted against each other my interest died along with her.
