The Poet X by Elizabeth Acevedo

5.0

I enjoyed how Xiomara expresses her feelings and struggles with slam poetry the entire book, especially her struggles with accepting religion and anger at being sexualized by the boys in her neighborhood. Sometimes I just wish that instead of discussing how she felt during some of the poetry readings that she actually shared the poems she read instead of just talking about how she felt delivering them in front of an audience.
