Truly Devious by Maureen Johnson

5.0

“Here she was, watching a case up close, giving a statement, experiencing all the things she longed to experience.

All it took was for someone to die.”

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️/5 If I could give a rating of more than five stars I absolutely would!

The Ellingham Academy is a school for gifted kids but it’s perhaps more famous for the kidnapping and murder of the school founders’s wife & daughter. Years later, Stevie Bell is starting her first year at Ellingham Academy. She is an aspiring detective and is determined to solve the decades old crime. Things get out of hand when a fellow classmate is murdered, and she discovers the murder may have connections to the past.

Pros:
-the plot moved insanely fast, there was never a boring moment!
-I loved the author’s use of flashbacks, through this we were able to see parts of the original kidnapping/murder. These flashbacks were super cool because I could try and solve the original case (didn’t yet unfortunately)
-the characters were fully developed and interesting to learn more about
-the ending left me speechless, I cannot wait to read the next book!

Cons:
-don’t have any!
