As Long as the Lemon Trees Grow
by Zoulfa Katouh

This book was beautiful. Beautifully sad. I know it's supposed to be about hope, but it was hard to find it within these pages. I found so much of it so difficult to read, especially because so many of the victims were children. Heartbreaking and graphic in a way I haven't read in so many years. I read a lot of thrillers, and they can get really graphic, but this was different. Real. Just so sad. Knowing no matter whatever they did, wherever they went in Syria, tragedy would follow. Well written. Very sad with a little bit of hope.
